KLINGER Finland, a company dedicated to responsible business operations and sustainable development, has been awarded the highly coveted Gold-level EcoVadis certificate. The company understands the impact of its business on the environment and works to mitigate any negative effects.
Standards guide responsible and sustainable development
KLINGER Finland continually improves its environmental management systems and encourages its employees to take an active role in promoting environmental responsibility within the organization.
“Responsible business operations and continuous sustainable development are important aspects of everyday operations of KLINGER Finland. We were certified according to ISO standard 9001 in 2013 and also for ISO standards 14001 and OHSAS 18001 in 2016. OHSAS 18001 was then updated to ISO 45001 in 2016. We were awarded the EcoVadis Silver certificate in 2019. With hard work by our motivated personnel and a successful strive for continuous improvement with an extra focus on environmental issues, we have now reached the point where we can take pride in a Gold-level EcoVadis certificate”, says Micaela Roswall, Quality Director of KLINGER Finland.
Reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint
KLINGER Finland's portfolio for the energy segment comprises three main product groups: electricity, district heating, and fuels. We have decided to focus on procuring only renewable electricity for years and, from the beginning of 2023, also CO2-free district heating. In addition, as the company renews its car fleet, it is moving towards all-electric mobility, with 14 charging points already available in its yard, and more being built as needed. Furthermore, our contract with our main freight partner DHL comprises only compensated CO2, “adds Erkko Einiö, Development Manager with environmental responsibilities.
The company is committed to reducing its energy consumption by taking part in Motiva´s (a National Sustainable Development Company) Energy Efficiency agreement where KLINGER Finland has set a goal of reducing total energy consumption by at least 7.5% by 2025 and has already achieved its current savings target halfway through the contract period. The company is now reviewing its targets and is also participating in Motiva's energy-saving initiative “Down a Degree."
The Gold-level EcoVadis certificate is a testament to KLINGER Finland's commitment to responsible business operations and sustainable development. The company's efforts to balance economic success with environmental and social responsibility are truly commendable and in line with the KLINGER Group’s strategic goals.
