Sustainability and resource conservation have long been important guidelines at KLINGER Kempchen. Every year, the company’s efforts are assessed by experts, and in 2021 KLINGER Kempchen was again awarded the silver medal by the CSR assessor EcoVadis.
KLINGER Kempchen attaches great importance to sustainability. Once again, EcoVadis - the world's largest provider of sustainability assessments for companies - has acknowledged this dedication. EcoVadis has already put more than 90,000 companies in more than 160 countries through their paces in terms of sustainability. At KLINGER Kempchen, the concept of sustainability is visible far and wide from the green roof which was installed in 2009. The purchase of a highly energy-efficient compressor was one of the core elements of the switch to resource-saving and low-emission production for 2021.
Tightly sealed for the long term
Schonebeck can point to numerous cases that illustrate how these words have been followed by deeds:
For example, the compressed air hoses at the KLINGER Kempchen production facilities have been converted to pressed pipes that ensure long-term, leak-proof connection.
The purchase of a new, highly energy-efficient compressor for the plasma and laser cutting systems enables reduction of the system pressure by three bar - which leads to further energy reduction.
Savings are also made by changing the lighting: adapting from fluorescent tubes or compact fluorescent lamps to LED lights in several departments also increases efficiency.

Doubled production output
Investing in a fiber laser system also brings more efficiency. Compared with the previous two-layer system, the new system provides an annual reduction of 35,000 euros per year - and that with a doubled throughput in sheet metal processing!
In addition to such energetic measures, factors such as labor and human rights, ethical trade standards and sustainable procurement are also among the criteria of the EcoVadis assessment, and KLINGER Kempchen has been able to obtain “silver status” in all categories. However, Schonebeck has no wish to rest on these laurels: “Of course we have to constantly stay on the ball and be on the lookout for areas where we can improve sustainability. "We are sure that we will still find many things in the company that can be improved."
The administration building is supplied with a ventilation system that saves energy through heat recovery.
